It’s important to try and communicate (with casters and viewers) when players are transitioning into other units, and what buildings they’re placing is part of that. Obviously the observer should find time to manually check both bases at key points in the match, but it can be awkward to do well.
The above mockup might be one way to try and address it…
Would show production buildings for military and things like university, monastery, market, blacksmith… would have a hotkey toggle for showing it, perhaps some way of dismissing individual ones by clicking on them (?), or being able to toggle eco or military buildings separately. I imagine as the game gets later you’d potentially want to toggle parts off.

I quite like that first one :)
One thing I wonder is what the best way of addressing several buildings being made at once like in DM/late RM shold be delt with as to not clutter things too much.
