Bookmark/time hotkeys#79

  1. Go to next bookmark
  2. Go to previous bookmark
  3. Delete most recently created bookmark
  4. Place bookmark 5s ago
  5. Change to (insert multiplier here) game speed (one for each, but most useful would be 0.5x through to 8x)

You’re just saying we should update our documentation, right? 11

(And tbh, I’m not sure what they ended up being either)

Turns out we put them in the backlog, so no bookmark jumping yet.

game speed is can be controlled with [ and ], but no jumps for now as that is would require a long range of hotkeys. Perhaps later.

There are indeed some missing parts in the docs I’ve found today! hehe.
Still, I think these are pretty easy wins.

I can definitely imagine working with a caster that asks “Can we just see that fight again?”… with the above hotkeys, I could quickly pop an F4 to mark current spot, use ‘go to previous’ hotkey to move back, show some kind of graphic to make it obvious we’re replaying, then ‘go to next’ hotkey to go “back to live” and then remove the graphic.

I use a streamdeck so that could literally be programmed in to a single button toggle. I’ve already tried.. “go back 30s, display graphic, wait 17 real-world seconds, remove graphic” as a button which kinda works… but using bookmarks to manually mark the start of a fight would make it far more streamlined for casters/viewers. The “mark 5s ago” just gives wiggle room incase of forgetting.

This kinda workflow of placing bookmarks for replay purposes would also allow for an ‘end of game montage’ of sorts. Especially if I can easily ‘delete recent’ to remove the ‘return to live’ bookmark I placed before going back.

The speed hotkeys [ ] already implemented are adequate, just undocumented. If I’m replaying a mangonel shot I can slow it down manually that way easily enough.

Fun fact, when F4 was added I had made a suggestion to have Alt + F4 add some functionality. I decided to have mercy while it was being implemented reminding my innocent colleague that Alt + F4 closed the application 11.
