I know that CA has time control options to speed up, slow down, or pause the game but sometimes I still habitually tab into aoe to do that which breaks CA. Having the time control options in CA is convenient but if I want to tab into the actual game and speed up the game I should be able to do so without CA bugging out.

We are currently working on ways to make controlling the game’s speed a better™ experience.

Fastforwarding in early game seems to be very smooth and goes at high speed. But as game progresses, fast forward seems to be running at slower pace than running at just 1.7x speed. Is this a bug or performance issue? I have 12 GB RAM so I don’t think its performance. I tried to do low graphics on DE itself, but does not seem to help.

Hey Bharath,
Fast forwarding is mainly dependent on game size (number of units.) This slows things down because AoE2DE runs game simulation on a single CPU core and also needs to get that data to CA causing additional stress on that single core. This can result in DE running under 1.7x speed. You can do a few things like capping frame rates etc to get this a bit lower but ultimately most systems will run into a single core speed limitation on large tg’s (my PC runs at 1.9x speed late game 4v4 black forest for example.) We’re doing what we can to minimise these impacts where possible with performance updates.
(Please note many things effect CA’s performance so it’s not always going to be one blanket reason for why things may be lagging.)
