Post-game Build Summary#125

One feature I really miss from post-game summaries in SC2 is the at-a-glance summary it displays of each player’s early build order up until a point that the game decides you are out of the ‘early-game’. I have attached an example I found on Google as an example.

This would have huge benefits for various different kinds of users.

Casters can use it as part of post-game analyses and breakdowns. Content creators can share the output with their subscribers when putting out information about different builds, as a far cleaner and easily digestible readable addition to other mediums. Players can use it as a way to analyse, and develop their builds, particularly newer players for whom a clear, visual representation of the actions that they took, and at what times, can pinpoint granualar mistakes, subtle inaccuracies, and common break points they have with builds they are trying to learn.

One way I might imagine adapting this to the AOE2 landscape would be to do present a capture of the economy at the end of each villager cycle (the way villagers are currently tasked, any new buildings constructed/under construction, new units queued, or produced, etc.).

This way has the obvious downside of being less useful for lower ELO players who have the tendancy to idle their TC, and also potentially missing finer granularity in the builds of more skilled players who might retask villagers more than once in one 25 second period. It’s just one suggestion, and there are plenty of other ways to do this, including the far simpler model presented by the SC2 screenshot.

I appreciate that this would likely be a significant undertaking, and can appreciate why it might be an automatic no. This said, I think it would be a fantastic, and incredibly useful feature, provided of course that CA:DE’s backend can handle the generation of such a report, and it wouldn’t represent too onerous undertaking for the developers,

Best, and thanks so much for the fantastic software,

This is something we have discussed and are keeping in mind for the future. Thanks for your suggestion!
